Biography
I was born in 1972 in a small town in Wyoming. I was the type who never fit in with one specific crowd because my head was always buried in a sketchbook or because I stood observing my surroundings rather than interacting with them.
I went to high school and college in Wyoming but still looked beyond the small town. I knew I needed to be surrounded by people of all backgrounds and to feed off the energy of a big city. Eight years ago I made my way to Chicago and found everything I wanted: I found a purpose to art.
People have always been my focal interest because I learned early on that man is the measure of all things good and bad. We are the top of the food chain and therefore have the greatest effect on the world.
My paintings are created with two goals in mind. One is to be original and the other is to force the viewer to respond beyond typical opinions based on personal tastes.
My paintings dig down and pull back the veil of ignorance and sometimes attack hypocrisies within our culture. Perhaps most other works are personal to the artists who paint them, but I want my paintings to say something to everyone aside from the usual gaze of the pleased eye. There are plenty of artists who paint puppies and flowers; I paint confrontation and originality.
